Nestled in the thick conifers of Payette National Forest just a short drive from McCall is a picturesque alpine lake known as Goose Lake. A no-wake lake, Goose Lake offers excellent fishing, numerous hiking trails, and a variety of other outdoor activities year round. The perfect spot to enjoy for an afternoon or several days, you’ll be invigorated by the serenity, fresh mountain air, and spectacular scenery when you visit.
Location & Information
Goose Lake, Idaho is about 11.5 miles northeast of McCall near Meadows. To get there, head north on Hwy 55 for 5 miles to Goose Lake Road. Follow Goose Lake Road to the lake.

Activities
Hiking, Mountain Biking & Camping – There are several great trails near Goose Lake, including Six Mile Trail, Box Lake Trail, & Brundage Mountain Elk Trail Loop. Grouse Campground is right on the shore of the lake and is perfect for a picnic or campout. ‘
Fishing – Be sure to bring your fishing pole and cast your line for northern pike, grey trout, largemouth bass, crappie and whitefish.
Birdwatching – This is an excellent spot for birdwatching. Birds native to the area include bald eagles, osprey, a variety of hummingbirds, and American three-toed woodpeckers.
Snowmobiling – During the winter there are many groomed trails for snowmobiling.
